St. 221 & 225 were alerted for a reported CO Condition in the structure. 2 occupants of the structure complained of feeling ill for several days, this day the male half drove to his girlfriends in Wilkinsburg complaining of being ill and vomitting. The female called 911 and the FD & EMS responded to evaluate. The EMS arrived and requested the FD be sent to a house in Penn Hills were the male resides. 221 Squad, and 225 EN arrived on scene awaiting a keyholder. Once keyholder arrived crews made entry to the structure and found no initial levels of CO, there was a slight hint of natural gas when the door was opened. The occupants girlfriend says they have been feeling ill after staying in the residence for a few days now. Crews checked the stove which would not light correctly and also gave of a smell of gas and low levels of CO around 10ppm. Crews were initially told the furnace did not work. Initial thoughts were they were heating the residence with the stove. While i
nvestigating further and male and female approached claiming to own the residence and gave the crew some resistance to being there. The female occupant then advised the furnace did work but was off for some reason. Crews turned the furnace back on and allowed it to heat up and start running and CO Levels in the basement spiked to over 50ppm and climbing. Crews immediatley shut the furnace off and requested the Equitable Gas to the scene. While investigating crews also found the flu pipe to the hot water tank not connected and venting properly. Howowner was advised of all the pending issues and imformed he needed to have these resolved. They were also advised that the gas company was on the way and to make sure they awaited there arrival. Crews left the doors open for natural ventilation and returned in service. <br />
